In the Townland of Nobber:

The Weekend
After Little Britain and the subsequent night out from which I got home a little drunk. Luckily I had no hangover so I was able to function and go in and meet Mark, Julie and Lisa for the trying on of the suits. I was late going in because I got confused about the time (selective hearing on my part as it turns out.)
I decided to get a taxi into town… it would be quicker, but there were no free taxis. Two very nice French people offered me a lift. I duly supplied them with ample amount of tourist / historic information about the streets and places we saw. It was actually strange because I got to experience Dublin through the eyes of tourists. Streets such as O’Connell street which I would have considered a dump, they were entralled with.
The suits looked good and both Lisa and Julie like it. Turns out I usually look like a kid according to Lisa so it was good to spend 10 mins in some grown up clothes. After we finished in Lois Copeland, we went for lunch in the church / restaurant place at the top of Mary’s Street. Excellent food and coffee.
Later that day I had Jack’s birthday party and I knew that they (Cathal) would like buffs. The party was good fun. I spent some time fixing the computer and in the jacuzi out back.
Sunday was a day for work. I got to work about 1130 and stayed there for a few hours and made some progress. Chris called over and we went to see Talladega Nights… top class… Chris managed to not ask my sister to be with her again which was decent of him….
Little Britain
I was lucky enough to get a spare ticket to see Little Britain last night with Mark and the O’Conner family. The show is absolutely brilliant. I was wondering how they were going to transfer it from the screen to the stage, but they did it fantastically. The backdrop of the set was beemed from a projecter onto the screen.
The comedy was first rate and they really pushed the boat out. There was no constraints on the show, and they really pushed the boundries. If you get a chance to see it, do. It is well worth it.
The Pre Independece Project
Being a young country, Ireland still has a lot of throw backs to the time of British Rule. The Constitution was written by a man who had a economic vision of self subsitance in Ireland, a vision which was only reveresed when Lemass came to power and famously decided things can’t get any worse, and so we should look towards trade and regular economics to supply our country. That was in 1958, 48 years ago.
Part of our young history means we have a lot of legal structures in place that date well before the inception of the Republic of Ireland. The Attorney General is in the middle of a project to remove all out dated and unrelevant laws from our books. Unfortunately, this means it will be no longer illegal to bait lions and tigers in Ireland. Among some of the laws that are in our books, but that do now apply to Ireland are:
- Deer Stealing (England)
- Militia pay (England)
- Westminster fish market
- Duties on cinnamon, etc.
Google Search History (Beta)
I was aware of Google’s new featre (Search History) but I had only briefly looked at it once. This morning I decided to have another look and, to be honest I think it is fantastic.
Not only does it give you all the sites you have visited, and the option to search these sites, but also your usage statistics. It also alows you go to back to a specific day, and also tracks the music you listened to that day (possibly through the gtalk feature). How cool is that?
There is also a trends section which gives interesting info on your usage of the internet and search engines. On average, since February, Sunday is my quietest day with an average of 155 searches and wednesday is my busiest day with 1704 searchs in total. My busiest hour of the day is 1400 with 1066 searches since February and my quietest is 0800 (because this is when I get up). Amazingly all other hours in the day have searches: 0500 has 60 searches for example.
If you haven’t already tried it, give it a go. It really gives you an idea of your internet usage habits and is a real eye opener. I would never of guessed that I have used google during every hour of the day except 0800 since February.
Meeting Arron
Myself and Niamh drove to Limerick 2 weeks ago to visit Stephen, Elke and Arron. Arron was only a couple of weeks old and I had been looking forward to meeting him. Below are a few of the pictures from the day:

Update
I have a lot to do this month to bring the blog up to date. Maybe over the weekend I’ll have a chance to post on the Thrifty Car Rental night out, the trip to see Arron, Elke and Steve and the beautiful Dinner Nettie cooked on Sunday night in honour of Danny’s birthday (happy birthday Danny)…
The next 48 hours are going to be pretty busy. I am flying to London with Niamh at 1400 and landing back in Dublin at 0800 tomorrow, after hopefully helping Nif to get sorted out with her accommodation etc etc. Then on Friday I am going to shop for suits for the wedding with Mark and Michael… I am really looking forward to it…
Until I post properly again…
Shakespeare Searched
I came accross Shakespeare Searched today… what a great idea. It should really help everybody doing English exams. Pity it wasn’t around in 1997 for my final exams.
Basically you can select a character (e.g. Hamlet) for any Shakespeare production, type in a word (e.g. Father) and press search and it will list every time that word is mentioned by Hamlet:

Hamlet – Act 1, Scene 2
- Your loves, as mine to you: farewell.
- My father’s spirit in arms! all is not well;
- I doubt some foul play: would the night were come!
- Till then sit still, my soul: foul deeds will rise,
- Though all the earth o’erwhelm them, to men’s eyes.
Google’s No 1 Choice for Irish Weddings
I don’t usually pay much attention to what webiste do to try and make a sale, but I came across this today on a Irish Wedding site:
‘Google’s No1 Choice for Irish Weddings in Ireland.‘
First of all, I think it is funny, because what does Google know about ‘Irish Weddings in Ireland’? But then again, Google is a cool company, run by cool people who did something smart and has a good image, so maybe by aligning this wedding service with Google they can imply they are same minded people. I don’t really know.
Maybe the site ranks first for Irish Weddings in Ireland, but that doesn’t mean that Google Uses this site for all their weddings in Ireland does it? Nope, it just means it ranks better than the other sites because you are stuffing your keywords. Maybe I should say fair enough for trying to sell your product and doing what you can to do that, but I just think it is too miss leading, So I decided to point it out to all you people out there thinking about getting married in Ireland, and maybe try and rank my blog for: Irish Weddings in Ireland… so there you go…
By the way, I don’t want to impact negatively on your website… so if this blog post is not helping you, tell me and I’ll remove it or tone it down or something… To be honest it might not even be still here next week.
New Sites
So anyway, I figure it is time to build a few more money earning websites… time to get back in the game and all the rest of it. I have only just registered the domains, but I got to admit it gave me a rush… which now I realise is kinda sad in a distinctly techie way… Anyway, as is the custom when I regester new sites, I take advantage of my blog and Google’s bias towards blogs to help me get them indexed quicker… So, here is the list of my new domains:
- e-worldexplorer.com
- e-exploreatlanta.com
- e-explorenewyork.com
- e-exploredublin.com
- e-exploresanfrancisco.com
- e-exploreboston.com
- e-exploremiami.com
- e-exploreseattle.com
